Livin’ in Limbo Land

Little has happened with the Peace Corps since they notified me that they are not able to clear me medically. I’m still waiting for the official letter describing the issue(s) so that I can initiate an appeal. They did let me know that there’s also a second issue that I will not be cleared for, this one one related to a shoulder injury from last fall. The initial message about non-clearance said I’d have the letter within ten business days; according to my calculations, I should hear sometime this week.

So, I’m waiting. As they say, patience is a virtue, but it’s not my virtue. I figure the day they passed out patience, I didn’t wait in line long enough…

In the meantime, I’m trying to pass the time as best I can. I finished all the non-medical tasks (updating my resume, watching the security video, etc.), spent a weekend visiting friends, had a colonoscopy, finished taking down the duck pen, binged on Hulu, had dinner with neighbors, finally found the right color of paint for the one side of the house that needs painting, did some yard work, ate too much sugar, planted tomatoes and carrots, weeded garlic and hilled potatoes at the food bank farm, and read a book.

When I write it up like that, it seems like I’ve been busy, but I feel like I’m just sitting around waiting for something to happen. I know that when (positive thinking here) I get the all clear, I’ll have tons to do and will wish I’d done more while waiting, but I just can’t get myself to do a lot more right now. So, for this week, I have some errands to do, a second cohort call with Peace Corps, more yard work (it’s finally nicer out!!!), some financial stuff from having left my job, and will spend time with a good friend who is in town for a week.

In the last few days, I’ve seen several goldfinches at my feeders, so today’s photo is a goldfinch. This photo is from a year ago.

  2. Waiting is so frustrating! I have little patience either…it’s just hard. Marcia
